DVD Review - Game Breakers: The Stars of Major League Soccer

I just finished the new DVD from Major League Soccer and A&E Home Video titled, Game Breakers: The Stars of Major League Soccer and I’ve got to tell ya, I was quite impressed.

The DVD was just released on August 26th and so – like Kramer in Seinfeld – that practically makes me the premier!

The video covers some of MLS’s hottest properties, including the homegrown talent you’d expect to see: Landon Donovan, Taylor Twellman, Brian Ching, Brad Guzan and Dwayne De Rosario as well as the leagues top imports: Of course David Beckham, Cuauhtémoc Blanco, Juan Pablo Angel, and Luciano Emilio.

I also quite enjoyed the video exposes on MLS’s young talent – a section vindicated by recent transfers – as Jozy Altidore and Maurcie Edu have made their way across the pond. One of the other rising stars profiled was Sacha Kljestan of Chivas USA whose recent national team exposure has been more than decent and I fully expect he will continue to grow in to his attacking midfield role.

The video itself is packed with interviews from the old guard – guys like Jeff Agoos, Cobi Jones, Eric Wynalda, John Harkes, and former national team coach, Bruce Arena…add to that bit of American soccer history, some driving rock tunes and great goal highlights, and you have yourself a nice product from MLS.
