The Atlanta Silverbacks lost to their second international powerhouse club of the week last night as Argentinean first division side, Club Atletico Independiente, edged past the Backs by a 2-1 margin.
In what may have been a false sense of promise, the Backs got on the board first as Jason McLaughlin found the back of the Red Devils’ net in the 27th minute. But hearts surely broke 50 minutes later as Independiente equalized from the penalty mark well in to the second half.
And in a goal sure to raise eyebrows, the match winner came more than a minute after the announced stoppage time had expired.
