FC Barcelona Coming to America
If your travels will take you anywhere near Soldier Field or Giants Stadium early next month, then you have to try and score tickets to one of the two friendlies the Catalonian greats have planned.
According to the detailed itinerary on FC Barcelona’s website, the team is set to arrive via chartered jet in Chicago around 2:00PM on Thursday 31 July.
They have a series of training sessions scheduled throughout their tour of the American Northeast, the first starting at 8:00PM the day of their arrival, followed by Friday and Saturday morning sessions, all at Illinois University and afternoon sessions at Toyota Park and Soldier Field respectively.
Barça will play its first friendly of the tour against CD Guadalajara on Sunday 3 August at Soldier Field. Kickoff for this match is scheduled for 6:00PM and Chivas will certainly want to regain a bit of pride after their Superliga exit courtesy of fellow Mexican side, Atlante.
Barcelona will then travel to New York to take on the Red Bulls at Giants Stadium on Wednesday 6 August with a scheduled kick off of 7:00PM.

And if you get to go to either match - I want a full report!

I estimate 70,000 will attend the game.

oh at least...there were just shy of 80,000 at the meadowlands for the US v. Argentina friendly in early June.
Where is Illinois University? Is this actually the University of Illinois at Chicago? or is it different? Also, does anyone know which hotel they will be staying at?
I assume it's University of Illinois at Chicago - I can't find anything otherwise...no word on the hotel either, not too mention Barca are taking chartered jets so it's unlikely to catch them at the airport either.
no Messi in NY - that's sort of sucks.
