Silverbacks travel north to take on Montreal Impact tonight at Saputo Stadium

Atlanta Silverbacks are off to the Great White North to take on Montreal Impact tonight in a match that should help the Backs push closer to securing a playoff spot.

Impact will be looking to play spoiler though on their home field and could use a win to help them climb out of 9th position in the table.

According to the Silverbacks Press Release pre match analysis, "Montreal boasts one of the most balanced attacks in the league; the team has had a remarkable 12 players score goals this year, second only to the Puerto Rico Islanders. Yet, the Impact have scored the fewest goals in the league (19) and are still looking to find a consistent scorer. Montreal traded for forward Charles Gbeke earlier in the year, but he has only been able to put away one goal in 12 games played.

Atlanta’s offense ranks second in the league with 33 goals scored, but the team will be without top striker Macoumba Kandji. Atlanta has also been able to only net two goals in their last three matches, being on the receiving end of a shutout twice. Newly acquired forward Aaron Paye made his debut with the Silverbacks last Saturday against the Charleston Battery and played the final 70 minutes of the match after replacing an injured Kandji, and he will look to put the offense back on track."

Let's hope Atlanta can create offense without Kandji. Kick off is at 7:30PM Eastern, and if any Backs fans are there, please send us your match report. Thanks!!

Silverbacks got beat pretty badly in Montreal. They really need Kandji back if they are going to make it to the top of the table.

Kandji has probably played his last game for the Silverbacks. He will be sold to NYRB. No Kandji and no Toure = no playoffs. The owners are dismantling the team for money and that is a bad sign for the future of the team.
