Hearts stopped for a moment all over the stadium in the 84th minute as a clash of heads sent Pat Phelan to the ground with no movement whatsoever.
Defending a Pachuca corner kick, Sainey Nyassi rose up to clear a header and caught Phelan with a head under his jaw. The impact lifted Pat off the ground.
Medical teams for both Pachuca and the Revolution sprinted to the field to tend to Pat. The medical teams exercised all caution as Pat’s neck was braced and he was stretchered off, to the subdued applause of nervous Revs and Pachuca fans.
